Camellia japonica 'Adolphe Audusson' is one of the all time classic, tried and tested varieties, with semi-double red flowers with golden stamens, in late winter to spring. Vigorous but compact, with glossy, deep green foliage. A hardy evergreen shrub.

Height and spread in 10 years 2m.x 1.2-1.5m. (6ft.x 4-5ft.) Plant in moist but well drained, humus-rich, lime-free soil, in a sheltered site in sun or dappled shade, out of the morning sun. In cold areas plant by a sheltered wall. Also suitable for growing in a container, in ericaceous (lime-free) compost.

This plant has an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
